It is exciting to enroll in university and know you are working towards your degree or course in a field that you are passionate about. It is a whole different ballpark and a major convenience to be able to attend college or university entirely online.
The thought is extra appealing to those that do not have their own car and are unemployed because it saves them a lot of money when there are no commute expenses. Do not think that it is going to be any easier than attending on-campus classes.
You’re going to have to Do Research
Not all online colleges are created equal. Depending on the major you are interested in, you need to ensure this college is accredited. This means that if you choose to change to another college halfway through your schooling, you will be able to transfer the credits therefore you do not have to retake the classes that have already been completed.
If you’re one of those students that are always forgetting to write down homework or assignments and misplacing your pencils or pens, then online school or college probably is not for you. You will need a calendar that has the dates that exam and assignments are due. I even like to mark the end of the term and it helps me stay alert.
Manage Your Time
Yes, it is true that online college allows more flexibility with your schedule; it is truly simple to just blow off a study session to go to the movies with your friends and to spend hour’s online watching YouTube videos. Do not become one of those students that take benefit of the freedom online college provides you. Be sure to use your time wisely. Make time for college and do not procrastinate. If you wait until the last minute to turn in an assignment that is risking missing due dates and you also risk a less than satisfactory marks.
Just because classes are online does not mean you are not going to have any problems about the course and subject. I am sure the tutors are more than welcome to answer any of the problems you may have and they will more than likely offer you with a number and hour’s in which you can reach them.
Always ask your mates problems as well because the tutor is going to be busy answering a number of questions and there may be someone in your class that knows the answer to what you are confused about. Online tutoring and classes participation is something that is a requirement with most colleges.
There’s nothing worse than pulling an all nighters in order to pass an exam. Study daily at least 30 minutes per day. Repetition is a much good way to learn matters because when something is repeated for a long time, it goes into your long term memory, which means it is going to be something you memorize years after you have gotten your degree.
Do not think of exams as something you need to get over with; instead, think of the notes you have taken and lessons you have read as something that is critical to your career success. Take it sincerely. College is not a joke.
Some Other Tips
Plan ahead with everything when attending an online college. You never know when something will come up that could prevent you from completing an assignment and homework. For instance, what if a big natural disaster happens and the power goes out and stays that way for a week? You are not going to be able to turn in a few of your assignments or projects, but if you’d planned ahead, you may have been able to turn in the assignments or projects before the power went out.
Apply for financial aid ahead of time. You will get a good idea of how much books and classes are going to cost and get out if you qualify before the start of the semester. There is nothing worse than being at the beginning of the semester without a way to pay for classes just as you were late turning in your financial aid application.
When studying, always take a break. You should not get a headache and stress from reading your notes and reading the assigned or homework chapters. Take it easy and do not overdo it.
Enjoy college and stay motivated. Memorize why you enrolled in the first place and you are going to be able to reach your ambition.
